Mission 1:
Meeting Your Superior

Shockwave looked at the datapad again.  Then back up at the mech standing in front of him.  Then back at the datapad.  He then sighed, shaking his head.  It seemed like they’d let just anyone into the Decepticon army these days.  “Okay, it says here that you are…”

“Hi-Def, sir!!” the young mech announced, saluting.  The sound almost pierced his commander’s audio receptors into non-function.

“Yes…” Shockwave muttered, rubbing his abused sensors with his laser hand.  “And it says that you claim to be…”

“The Hero of the Decepticon cause, sir!!”

Shockwave cringed at that one.  “Yes, indeed.  You do realize that ‘hero’ isn’t exactly a word that we usually use to describe our soldiers?”

Hi-Def blinked at him.  He then tilted his head, seeming to not understand.  “I’m sorry, sir, but it is of my opinion that anyone who fights for the noble Decepticon cause is a hero!!  We must fight to destroy the evil Autobot menace!!”

Shockwave simply stared at him with his singular yellow optic before sighing again.  He seemed to be doing that a lot ever since this small red, white, and orange mech entered his office.  The hand never left it’s salute, either.  At least he knew his place, if it was a little…skewered of a perspective.  “Do you have any battle experience?”

“Oh, yes, sir!!” Hi-Def answered enthusiastically.  “I have vanquished many a foe in my time for the sake of the noble cause!!”

The Guardian Commander accessed his own databanks for a moment.  “Odd, I’ve never heard of you.  You would think I’d have at least some record of your… ahem… noble efforts if you were as famed of a warrior as you claim.  In fact, how do I know you are not simply an Autobot spy?  You appeared rather suddenly, demanding to be let in as a ‘warrior for the Decepticon cause’.  I have not found a single record of your existence in our database and according to my file, for being a great warrior, you all but failed our fighting tests.  In fact, we likely would have turned you away if not for your skills in the art of distraction and your supposed dedication to the Decepticons.”

Hi-Def simply stared at him during this speech before an audible KZZT! could be heard from his processor, his optics flickering for a moment.  He then smiled, straightening into his salute once again.  “Shockwave, sir??  Hi-Def, Decepticon Hero, reporting for duty, sir!!”

Shockwave stared in a bit of shock.  Did his processor just…reboot itself to the beginning of their conversation?  He shook his head.  It was as if he was physically incapable of processing the data that he wasn’t actually a Decepticon hero, like he claimed.  He sighed again.  This was going to be a long debriefing.
